Our work for Metro Vancouver / Invest Vancouver
Invest Vancouver, Metro Vancouver’s economic development service, promotes a region of 2.9 million people to employers, investors and talent. It selected us through a competitive quote in 2025 to produce its investment-attraction films. One production supplied a flagship film, a one-minute version and shorter cuts, with the main films now on its YouTube channel.

Selected Through a Competitive Quote
Invest Vancouver invited quotes in summer 2025 and selected Setsail for the production. We signed Metro Vancouver’s consulting agreement and purchase order in September, then began planning and producing the films.
Several Films From One Production
We planned the footage for a three-minute flagship, a one-minute version and short cuts for social media and events. That gave Invest Vancouver several uses for the production, rather than commissioning a separate shoot for each channel.
Final Films and Source Footage Handed Over
We delivered the finished cuts, graphics and a drive of raw footage, with files labelled and organised. Invest Vancouver’s own team can use those materials to edit future pieces instead of starting from a new shoot.
Economic Development Video Production for Invest Vancouver
Metro Vancouver brings together 21 municipalities, one electoral area and one Treaty First Nation. Invest Vancouver makes the case for the whole region to companies choosing where to grow. Its audience includes site selectors and executives weighing talent, costs and connections. The films needed to give those viewers business reasons to consider the region, alongside footage showing the place.

Making the Case for the Whole Region
The films had to represent Metro Vancouver without favouring one member and speak to an audience accustomed to comparing evidence. We built the story around people at work, the labs and facilities behind them, and the investment activity bringing employers to the region. Those choices gave the broader regional message concrete examples.
Our crew filmed research labs, advanced manufacturing floors, boardrooms and skyline views across the region. Motion graphics explained ideas the footage could not show on its own, including connections between sectors and the path from research to a ribbon cutting. The graphics and live footage carried different parts of the same argument.
Keeping Multi-Person Reviews Clear
Each cut went to Invest Vancouver in Frame.io. Reviewers could attach notes to the frames they meant, giving the team a shared place to discuss revisions. That helped us track changes through a regional government’s multi-person approval process.
Films for Presentations and Follow-Up
Welcome to Metro Vancouver: Canada’s West Coast Business Capital, the flagship film, was published on Invest Vancouver’s YouTube channel in June 2026. It appeared alongside the one-minute The Next Business Success Story Could Be Yours. Shorter versions give the team material for social posts, trade events and follow-up with prospects after a call.
The Production Deliverables
- A flagship film making the three-minute case for investing in Metro Vancouver.
- Shorter versions, including a one-minute film and cuts for social, events and email.
- Motion graphics with titles and animated concepts in Invest Vancouver’s colours.
- Regional filming across labs, manufacturing, offices and aerial locations.
- A complete handover of final cuts, graphics and raw footage.

Project FAQs
What did Setsail make for Invest Vancouver?
We produced investment-attraction films for Metro Vancouver: a three-minute flagship, a one-minute version and shorter cuts. The work included filming across the region and motion graphics to explain its business strengths, with versions for presentations, social media and follow-up.
How was Setsail chosen?
Invest Vancouver selected Setsail through a competitive invitation to quote in 2025. The engagement then proceeded through Metro Vancouver’s consulting agreement and purchase order before production began.
Why make one production into many videos?
Planning several versions before filming lets the crew capture material for different uses during the same production. For Invest Vancouver, that meant a flagship film, a one-minute version and short cuts, giving its team options for presentations, social channels and events.
Do you make videos for economic development offices?
Yes. In addition to Invest Vancouver, our work includes investment and talent films for the City of Prince George and an investment brand and website for the City of Santa Cruz. Each project reflects the place and the audience it needs to reach.
Does the client keep the footage?
For this project, yes. Invest Vancouver received the final films, graphics and a drive of raw footage. Its team can use the organised source files to make further edits and shorter pieces itself.
