Here’s the short version → Setsail’s Growth Strategy turns customer, market and channel research into a fixed 90-day plan with sourced projections before execution begins.

For:
Growing businesses · trades & construction · ecommerce · pro services · health · public sector
What we do:
Customer research · market sizing · channel plan · targets · 90-day roadmap
Engagement:
Fixed-scope strategy · deposit credited in full · yours to keep
How we work:
Research → model demand → diagnose gaps → prioritize → plan
Where:
Vancouver-based · Canada + US · founder or committee-ready
Proof:
Sources, assumptions, budget, timeline + projected payback shown in writing

When we understand why people buy → the path to growth is clear.

The route to your financial goals practically draws itself. That’s the unfair advantage of starting with strategy: the fastest, most efficient path to your goals stops being a guess and becomes a map.

  1. Two Setsail strategists at their laptops in front of a whiteboard, one in a cap

    1. Tell us where you want to go. 30 minutes, free.

Thirty minutes, free, about your business, your market, and what’s been holding your numbers back. You leave knowing what to fix first, whether we are the right fit.

  2. A strategist in a red sweater working at his desk beside a monitor of market data

    2. We get inside your business. The deep dive.

A deep-dive call plus real research: how your customers search, compare and decide, and where the untapped opportunities sit in your market.

  3. Car rental website pages laid out behind a Growth Strategy cover — the strategy presented against a client's site

    3. The route, presented. Live, to you.

We present the full strategy: the marketing opportunities worth pursuing, deliverables, timeline, price, and projected numbers.

1.The research: who buys, what your market holds, and where the gaps are

A model of your customer. Who they are, what matters, and what gets them over the line.

Your market’s numbers, sourced. Demand by month, with the strongest season made obvious.

A diagnosis in five parts. See where the gap is largest, not just where activity is highest.

Channels that earn their place. Anything else gets cut.

Investment and payback, in plain language. One view of cash in, return out, and time to recover.

2.The strategy: what to do first, what to do next, and how the work gets sequenced.

A complete growth strategy. Positioning, audience, service priorities, 90-day targets, and budget connected in one plan.

15 to 30 target keywords. Real volume, confirmed intent, and a destination page mapped to each term.

A fixed 90-day plan. Deliverables, timing, and price agreed before any money changes hands.

Strategy & tactics aligned. The work starts from your strategy, not from someone else re-interpreting it.

One slice of a strategy. The buyer journey, built for a roofing company.

One part of every Growth Strategy: the customer journey map, simplified. The full strategy adds the research, channels, budget and 90-day plan. Yours uses your buyer and your numbers.

1 · The buyer

Jordan

The main buyer. Needs a new roof, about $10K. Cares more about trust than price.

Who buys
A smiling man with short greying hair in a grey t-shirt, against a dark background
“I’ve got a $10K job. I’m not handing it to a company I can’t vouch for.”
What they’re thinking

2 · The journey

What Jordan needs to believe before getting in touch

  1. Sourcing

    Drops off here

I can find good local options, and this one is well reviewed.

    Fix: local search and reviews

  2. Discover

    Passes

This company clearly does work like mine.

  3. Consider

    Drops off here

The work is real, and people trust them.

    Fix: project photos and proof

  4. Decide

    Passes

Getting in touch feels easy and safe.

  5. Goal

This is the company I want to contact.

Then we put numbers on it

3 · Where the business is

Monthly sales, today vs. target. About $10K a job, like Jordan’s.

The gap is about 5 more jobs a month. That comes from better leads and a setup that can take more budget. Not from spending more.

Today · ~$100K/mo~10 jobs

$100K+5 jobs

Target · $150K/mo~15 jobs

$150K

4 · What’s blocking it

What the ad platform can and can’t see. It sees enquiries. It never sees the jobs you win.

Jobs close on the phone and on site. That never gets back to the platform, so it learns to find people who enquire, not people who hire.

5 · The plan’s answerProjected

What your budget could produce. Enough to close the gap.

  3. 336visits
  4. × 4.6%enquire
  5. 15enquiries

  7. 6new jobs a monthCloses the 5-job gap

Your strategy answers the same five questions.

Growth Strategy. Know where to invest, and why.

Know your buyers. Size the opportunity. Leave with a plan you can act on.

  1. 01 Where do you want to grow?

We agree financial goals and priority services, then assess current results and constraints to define the gap your marketing needs to close.

Your business goals set the direction.

  2. 02 What makes buyers choose?

We research how buyers search, compare and decide. Their questions, objections and need for proof guide your content, channels and customer journey.

Buyer research + market demand + competitor and channel audit.

  3. 03 What could the opportunity be worth?

We model how demand could become enquiries, sales and revenue. Sources and assumptions stay visible, with costs, margins and timing considered.

Return and payback are estimates, not guarantees.

  4. 04 Where should you invest first?

We prioritise channels and fixes by buyer fit, evidence and budget. You see what to pursue, what to defer and why.

A clear role for every recommended investment.

  • You want more business than you’re getting now, and you’re ready to do something about it.
  • You’re not happy with your digital presence, the site, the ads, the socials, and you believe it could be producing a lot more.
  • You’re already spending on marketing, and you can’t say for sure which part of it brings in work.
  • You’ve never hired an agency, and you’d rather see a plan you can hold in your hands than sign a retainer on faith.
  • You’ve worked with an agency before, and this time you want a full, well-thought-out strategy you can actually understand before anyone starts.
  • And once things are running, you want to see the data, read the reporting, understand the tweaks being made, and know someone’s on top of it, without having to chase anyone.
  • You’re a public-sector or B2B team that needs a documented, defensible strategy before budget gets approved.

Will you go quiet once I’ve paid?
No. You get a team – an account manager and regular calls, not a ticket queue. We watch the numbers between reports and adjust as we learn, and if something slips, you hear it from us before you find it yourself.
Will I get handed to a junior once the deal is signed?
No. The people who build your Growth Strategy stay on the work that follows. We’re 100% in-house, no subcontractors, so the team that learns your business is the team that runs it. Nothing gets lost in a handoff.
Do I own what you build?
Everything. Your accounts, your domain, your site, your data, and the Growth Strategy itself. If you leave, you take all of it with you.
How do I know the reporting isn’t flattering numbers?
Every month you see what we projected next to what actually happened, misses included. We report on what pays you, not what flatters us.
What is a Growth Strategy?
A Growth Strategy is Setsail’s entry engagement: a sourced read of how your customers search, compare and decide, plus what your market is actually worth and what your budget could potentially produce. It includes a model of your customer, your market’s numbers with every source attached, an assessment of where your current marketing is leaking, and a fixed 90-day plan with deliverables, timeline and price in writing. It is delivered before any ongoing engagement begins, and it is yours to keep whether or not you proceed.
What do I actually receive at the end of it?
A written document containing six things: a model of your customer and the language they search in; your market’s demand numbers, each with its source; where your current marketing is losing money and where the open position is; what your budget could potentially produce, with the workings shown; a fixed 90-day plan with deliverables, timeline and price; and a description of the live reporting you would receive, showing potential against actual. You keep the document.
Why is there a deposit?
It covers the time and research involved. A senior strategist spends real hours on your business, your market, and your competitors before we recommend anything, and the deposit means that work gets done properly. If you move forward with us, it’s credited toward your project.
Is it really mine to keep if I don’t hire you?
Yes. There is no version of a Growth Strategy where you pay for it and leave without the work. Clients have taken theirs to other agencies and used it as the benchmark to hold them to. That is a fair use of it. If our read is good, most people would rather have the people who did the read do the work, and if it isn’t, you found that out for a fraction of what a bad twelve-month retainer costs.
What does it cost, and is the call free?
The call is free: 30 minutes focused on your business, your goals, and your market. If there’s a strong fit, the next step is the Growth Strategy, which begins with a small deposit that covers the time and research involved, credited toward your project if you move forward with us. The details are part of the call, and you get straight answers.
